Dressing for Travel

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Travelling is quite uncomfortable and especially if you are about to begin a long plane or car journeys where you have to sit for many hours in the same place. I don’t mention trains or boats here because thankfully on them you can walk about quite a bit more.

So if you are taking a trip by plane or by car think of something that you have in your wardrobe that is the most comfortable for you to wear. It has to be loose fitting, mustn’t have any zips or buckles that dig into your skin, and so that you stay looking the best you can at the end of the trip, it should be of a material that doesn’t crease that much like viscose.

If it’s not very cold weather, try to avoid wearing tights as on a plane your feet and legs swell a little and tights will only make them feel even more uncomfortable.

Carry in your bag cool wipes, eye drops, a spray mist of water for your face and a moisturising cream for your hands and face, as planes dehydrate you quite a lot. All these items are allowed on board even with the strict regulations that apply these days.

Dressing Safari style

Friday, June 26th, 2009

Fashion always loves including styles from other countries, in fact designers travel a lot all over the world so as to get inspiration from the different ways that people dress and so be able to include these ideas in their new designs.

The Safari outfit has always been popular and gets included nearly every summer on at least one cat walk basically because it is a very summery outfit not only because of the materials that are used but also because of the light fresh colours.

And so this summer a beige safari mini skirt could look even better enhanced by a pair of gladiator type boots in dark brown leather. These boots started off by being sandals made up of several straps and buckles that reached up to the ankle but now they have progressed further up the leg in order to become gladiator boots. They are usually made out of brown leather but suede is quite popular as well.

Fashion trends for Winter 2009

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

What will women be able to look forward to wearing at the end of the summer, because it is always true that at the end of any season one tires of wearing the same clothes and it is quite exciting to be able to get into something different.

Well a look that has always been popular is the layered look and that will make a strong come back this winter. It is also the ideal kind of outfit to wear at the beginning of the winter when on certain days it gets quite cold and on others it is still too warm and so you can take off or add on layers according to the temperatures. Part of this layered outfit will also include a long overcoat but in quite a simple style and long scarves either draped round the neck or slung round the shoulders.

These outfits can be worn with thigh high boots which will be in the shops with a variety of warm colours like burgundy, bottle green and brown and be made out of soft leathers or suede.

Fashionable Hair for 2009

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

If you are going to choose fashionable clothes to wear you mustn’t let a bad hair cut or style ruin the whole outfit and so what are the hair styles that are most in fashion in 2009?

Well as always there will be a variety to choose from depending on the length of your hair and whether you want to gain a look that is sleek, feminine or a style that is just easy to keep and look after yourself..

To start with, the women who have long hair and want to keep it long, have the ever popular straight and sleek look which is relatively easy to manage and especially if your hair is naturally straight. It is also a very popular trend for this year as it is more versatile than short hair and can be worn in various different ways like pinned up, in braids, in a low bun etc

There are also two other variations on wearing long hair which are for volume to be put into the style so that hair cascades down your shoulders rather than just plummet. And the other is for pronounced waves, starting from about the ear-line, with a side parting.

Different ways to wear a long white shirt

Monday, June 15th, 2009

This is an item that is so easy to find in the shops and most women will have at least one in their wardrobe already. It can be made out of cotton, linen silk or even viscose and is a very versatile piece of clothing.

But maybe sometimes one doesn’t know of the other ways that it can be worn other than the very normal one which is tucked into a skirt or a pair of trousers or jeans.

Well firstly, you could wear it without tucking it anywhere and put a wide belt loosely around the hips. This could be worn with trousers or a pencil skirt.

It can be worn loose again over trousers and with a waistcoat on top of it so that you see the shirt hanging out from underneath the waistcoat.

In the summer it looks good with a pair of jeans and instead of doing up the last few buttons at the bottom you get hold of both ends of the bottom of the shirt and bring them together in a knot, or if it is a really long shirt and there is enough material, into a bow.

Friday, June 12th, 2009

At the beginningsof February 2009, in Luanda city in Angola, Africa a magnificent fashion show event took place. The top local designers of the country showed their latest trends and also new beauty queens on the runways. For more than two hours the designers demonstrated on the catwalks, the best of their collections for the public to air their comments. This being one the West African countries, where the famous kitenge or chitenge garment designs are common, no one would have smelled European flavor on the way.

What Textile News is in the Spotlight Today?

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

Today in the spotlight, is a true story of one of those Asian countries forging right ahead when others have been very much affected by the merciless global economic crisis. In Bangladesh, the textile statistics for its exports to the United States shows a radical ten percent increase from last year to June 2009. Bangladesh is one among the many countries that depends on exports not vastly devastated by the recession problem.
Her apparel exports are actually booming while her sister countries such as Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia are equally hurt as some European countries and the US. Most specifically, Bangladesh supplies knitwear and woven outfits. These seem to have increased by almost forty two percent and thirty six percent for the last month of the year 2008, in contrast to the previous per annum figures, according to the current statistics. The fact that, many clients from the countries whose purchasing power have declined, due to effects of global economic crisis, are looking for low cost final textile products, gives Bangladesh an upper hand.
